The Rocklin Police Department and our school officials work closely to plan for students' safe arrival and departure. We are asking for your support and help in safely loading and unloading children. Even if you supervise your child, we ask that you follow all school rules and listen to our staff's directions for the safety of everyone. Our crossing guards will follow the California Crossing Guard Guidelines when performing their duties, with safety as their top priority.

Students may arrive for breakfast at 8 a.m. and proceed to the cafeteria. All others may begin arriving at 8:10 a.m. and shall proceed to the playground to their designated class lineup location. Students who arrive after the 8:25 a.m. bell are considered tardy and must have a parent or guardian check them into the office before reporting to class. Students who leave early are checked out through the office and released to the parent or a parent-entered contact in the Aeries Student Information System (SIS).

All TK and kindergarten students are released directly to their parents or guardians. Students who are not picked up within 10 minutes of the published dismissal time will be taken to the office until a designated adult arrives to pick up the student. Adults who have not been entered as emergency contacts in the Aeries SIS cannot pick up that student. Staff are trained to ask for identification for unknown emergency contacts.

All other students are released at the designated dismissal time. Students participate in lessons throughout the year that focus on staying safe while traveling to and from school.
Safe Arrival & Departure Procedures:

  • During arrival and dismissal times, the curbs in front of the school are marked with only cones designated for loading and unloading. To promote safety and reduce congestion, parents are currently prohibited from entering the parking lot to pick up or drop off their children.
  • Adult crossing guards assist the students at the three crosswalks nearest the school during arrival and dismissal times. In addition to crossing guards, staff are positioned at ingress and egress points to ensure and support students' safe arrival and departure. These procedures are published in the handbook, printed and distributed to all new TK and K families, confirmed during the Aeries data confirmation process at the beginning of the year, and resent at least twice a year through digital communication.
  • School parking lots are only reserved for staff parking, bus access, and commercial daycare vehicles. Parents/guardians are encouraged to use the Topaz Avenue parking lot on the opposite side of the school or the church parking lot to park their vehicles if they wish to walk their students on or off campus.
  • Adults and children should use the crosswalks when entering and exiting school. Even if you are walking with your child, adults should model using the crosswalks and wait for our supervision staff to escort you across.
  • Do not stop your vehicle in the crosswalk or in front of the driveway to deliver or pick up your child. California State law prohibits stopping in a designated crosswalk. This constitutes a moving violation.
  • Students should enter the vehicle from the curb; please do not have your child walk into the traffic lane to enter or exit your vehicle.
  • Students should not enter or exit a vehicle not pulled over to the curb or parked.
  • Do not leave your vehicle unattended in the loading and unloading zones (designated by a white curb). The driver must remain in the driver’s seat and pull up as vehicles leave. This will allow more cars to pull in behind and keep traffic moving safely.
  • Do not make a U-turn on Topaz at or between the church and Plumbago Ct.
  • Do not turn across traffic; instead, make a right out of all the parking lots (including the church) and make a U-turn where permitted (see above).
  • The bus lane is for buses only. Please do not use it for drop-off or pick-up. The parking lots are closed to all except buses, staff, and individuals with a visible disabled parking pass or a disabled parking license plate.
  • Wait until all persons have left the crosswalk entirely before you proceed through the crosswalk in your vehicle.
  • If a crossing guard is not present, the driver of a vehicle shall yield the right-of-way to a pedestrian crossing the roadway within any marked crosswalk or within any unmarked crosswalk at an intersection.
